Chapter 9 – Where Is the Beauty

Chu Liuxiang came back carrying the shark fin in his hands, but Zhang Jiejie has gone. Translated by foxs

Although her person was gone, her air and spirit, her feelings, as well as her fragrance and her sweetness – seemed to still remain on the pillow, on the clothes, and in every corner of the room – as before.

In Chu Liuxiang’s heart, eyes, and mind, he could can still feel her presence – as before.

She would be back very soon. It must be very soon.

Chu Liuxiang turned over, he tried to relax his four limbs as much as possible, and enjoyed the lingering fragrance on the pillow.

His heart was filled with warmth and contentment.

Because he could still breathe her – as before, he could still feel her – as before.

Because he knew she would definitely come back.

Therefore, this lonely waiting has become some kind of sweet enjoyment.

There was a strand of hair on the pillow.

It was her hair; long, soft, and shiny, just like the thread of her love.

He wrapped the hair tightly around his finger, just like he also wrapped the thread of her love tightly around his heart. foxswuxia.wordpress.com

But she did not come back.

The pillow was already cold, the clothes were already cold, but she still did not come back.

The long night was over, the color of the dawn already dyed the white window paper, yet she still has not come back.

He fell asleep, and then woke up; he tossed and turned, she still has not come back.

Although the light has come closer, yet the room suddenly became indescribably cold and lonely.

“Where did she go? Why hasn’t she come back?”

“Why? Why?” — Chu Liuxiang could not explain, he could not imagine either!

“Could it be that henceforth she is disappearing from the world? Could it be that I will never see her again?”

He could not believe, he did not dare to believe, he also refused to believe.

“I definitely can wait until she comes back, I definitely can!”

But he did not wait. Translated by foxs

Time passed so slowly, it was maddeningly slow. Every time the wind blew the window, he thought she came back.

But by the time twilight descended on the big earth again, he still did not see her shadow.

“Could it be that she really left without saying goodbye?”

“Could it be that her sweet words, her pledge of undying love [lit. mountain oath ocean pledge] were just to leave me with a pain that I will never forget?”

“Why did she do this? Why did she lie to me?”

Chu Liuxiang was originally not a melancholy and moody person, no matter what it was, he was always able take everything lightly.

Whether it was coming together or parting, he has always been very open-minded.

Because life is already so short, how long can the coming-together be, and how long can the parting be?

Since they came together quickly, and now they parted quickly, why would he make it such a big deal?

But now, he knew he was wrong.

For some people, relationship was like shooting star. Even if they meet for a moment, it could create a spark that dazzled the eye. foxswuxia.wordpress.com

Although the spark may eventually die, the sudden impact and shock they cause will never be forgotten, sometimes it can even make you suffer for the rest of your life.

Sometimes it could even destroy you.

Although Chu Liuxiang was open-minded, he was not a heartless person at all.

Maybe it was because his emotion was too much, too deep; as soon as it appeared, it would be difficult to pull back. Hence the reason he usually had to act without involving his emotion.

But who on earth could be really emotionless?

Chu Liuxiang slowly stood up, and slowly walked to the window.

He pushed the window open, sunset glow filled the sky.

The sunset glow filling the sky suddenly poured into his heart, he was so emotionally moved that his whole body trembled.

“No matter where you are, I will definitely find you.”

He vowed to find her, to ask her clearly!

But where should I go? Translated by foxs

Is she at the end of the sky, or at the corner of the sea? Or between the illusory distant and indistinct clouds and mountains?

No one knew where she came from? No one knew where she went?

Maybe she was not from this world at all.

Chu Liuxiang painstakingly looked for her.

Every place she had appeared, he went to look for her.

Sometimes she appeared on a hill, sometimes she appeared in the shade, sometimes she even appeared in a tub of water.

Tell me, how do you think Chu Liuxiang should look for her?

He grew thin, and he was tired, his face already lost the old expression that could instill fear in the enemy’s heart and charm the young girl’s heart.

But he did not care.

Because his real pain was in his heart.

He never knew that unexpectedly there was such deep pain on earth.

“Could it be that there is no one on earth who knows her whereabouts?”

He suddenly thought of Jin Siye. foxswuxia.wordpress.com

He immediately went to look for him. One day after dusk, he came to that high wall again.

The same night scene, the same moonlight, but his heart was completely different.

Remembering that night, when she took his hand and took him here, his heart seemed to suddenly become empty, his whole body seemed to have become empty, without any place to go.

He did not jump to the top of the wall, but walked slowly around the corner.

Turning the corner, he could see the Jin Family’s main gate.

A group of monks wearing gray robes and white sleeves, their eyebrows hung down, their faces grave – was walking slowly into the Jin Family’s main gate.

Seven or eight young novice monks, holding ritual vessels for funerals in their hands, their head low – were following behind them.

Standing at the threshold welcoming the visitors was an old, gray-haired man with grief across his face.

Surprisingly, this old man was Jin Siye. Translated by foxs

It has only been a few days, why has he aged so much? Where was his overbearing, consider-himself-unexcelled-in-the-world spirit of the past now? What exactly the terrifying unforeseen event happening here?

Chu Liuxiang stood far away, he watched from afar, suddenly he understood in his heart.

The person who died must be Jin Guniang, must be the girl who was as beautiful as a fairy but was living in hell. She has finally found her own liberation — death was her only liberation.

Maybe she was happier dead than alive.

But what about her father?

This leader of the Jiangnan Wulin, the hero of this age, although he held in his hands the wealth and power that could change the fate of many people, he was still unable to change the fate of his daughter.

Even if he exhausted all his wealth and power, he was still unable to keep his only daughter alive.

This was not only his, one person’s tragedy, but also all mankind’s tragedy.

Chu Liuxiang’s heart sank, it sank even deeper.

Originally he came here to look for Jin Siye.

But now that he saw Jin Siye, he merely quietly turned around, quietly walked away.

He kept walking forward. foxswuxia.wordpress.com

He was indignant to find that there was a clear running water in front of him, blocking his way.

The moon in the sky, the moon in the water.

In daze, Chu Liuxiang stood on the spot, he hung his head down, and stared in daze at the bright moon in the water.

He suddenly felt that there was something in the world, just like the moon in the water.

There was clearly a moon in the water, you can clearly see it, but when you try to catch it, not only you will grab emptiness, you may even fall into the water.

So much so that you may drown.

Chu Liuxiang did not try to catch the moon in the water again, because he had already caught it once.

He already learned a very tragic lesson.

It’s just that there was still a moon in the water, and he could still see it.

But what about Zhang Jiejie?

“He would never see her again.”

Could it be that she, like the moon in the water, practically never really existed?

  1. Pao, contrary to popular belief 😁, I, too, want to finish this story as quickly as I can … Besides, you are biased … actually lately I was closer to once every four days than three days like in the past. Anh, you are welcome. Very short chapter today, at least much shorter than usual. We still have five more chapters of variable length, some are longer than the other.

  2. But foxs, I actually prefer the every 4 days, just enough wait time between chapters to get some work done 😛

Man Chu Liuxiang has become so pathetic this chapter, JUST LIKE MOST WUXIA SERIES LATELY HAVE TURNED INTO DRAMAS–so foxs can we say Gu Long was ahead of his time 😛

Haha Chu Liuxiang needs to realize a woman stringing him on isn’t worth it when he has 3 beauties + black pearl waiting for him back home!!!

By the way foxs, how’s our other side project coming along? Hiatus?
